The Artist Salon is an opportunity for emerging and established visual artists to learn from arts professionals and discuss opportunities in the arts community. Each month presents a different guest presenter for inspirational talks and professional development advice for visual artists.
The May Artist Salon session features Richmond Art Gallery Director Shaun Dacey and Vancouver-based artist Kyla Bourgh will offer insights into the difference between developing artworks for exhibition and public art. Dacey and Bourgh will share their experience preparing Bourgh’s work, 'Objects given to my mom because she is Asian', that are part of the 2022 Capture Festival works on the Canada Line.
This edition of the Artist Salon will be an online live stream with Q&A session to follow the presentation.

About the Presenter:
Kyla Bourgh is a Vancouver based artist who grew up in the interior of British Columbia. She received an MFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in 2020, a BEd at The University of British Columbia 2001 and a BFA at Okanagan University in 2000. Her practice encompasses curating, social engagement, writing and text-based practices. She has been teaching since 2002 and has exhibited nationally and internationally.
