MyPermit Appication Portal

HB - MyPermit

MyPermit is an online application portal, located on MyRichmond, that allows residents, businesses, landlords, developers, and contractors to apply for and manage permits electronically. The system supports a more efficient and accessible application process any time, from any device.

Through MyPermit, users can submit applications, upload supporting documents, pay fees, download invoices, and monitor the status of their permits in one centralized location. Automated notifications help keep applicants informed as their application moves through the approval process.

What you can do with MyPermit

  • Submit an application, upload documents, pay fees, and manage applications online
  • Respond to requests for information and book inspections through your account
  • Access issued permits digitally
  • Experience smarter submissions with requirements tailored to your project

What has not changed

  • City review rules still apply. Staff will review all applications to make sure they are complete, and requirements are met. Staff review comments and status tracking is not available on MyPermit.
  • You may be asked for more information or payment. Staff may contact you if something is missing, wrong or additional fees or damage deposits are required prior to issuing a permit.
  • Outstanding property fees and fees associated with the application must still be paid.  Any unpaid fees linked to the property (eg. Fines, taxes, or outstanding balances) or other review fees for this application are not cleared by applying on MyPermit. City staff will review the application and contact the applicant if additional fees are required. These fees are not available for payment through MyPermit and must be paid through the methods provided by the City.
  • Not all permits are available online. These applications must still be submitted outside of MyPermit in person or through email. Review the Available Applications on MyPermit section below to learn what’s available online. You can find application forms on the Permits and Licences page.
  • Some projects may need more than one approval or permit, depending on the work being proposed. For more information visit Other Applications and Approvals
