Extreme Weather Response for Winter 2023/2024
For the 2023/2024 winter season, the City is partnering with local service providers to open one Extreme Weather Response Shelter and one Winter Warming Centre. On nights of extreme cold, these spaces provide a place for individuals experiencing homelessness to rest, have warm drinks or snacks, and access referrals to other services.
Both locations will be activated on nights of extreme cold during the winter season from 7:00pm to 7:00am. They will provide safe indoor spaces, away from the elements when the health of people experiencing homelessness could be threatened.
For additional information please contact Richmond House Emergency Shelter at 604-276-2490 or the Drop-in Centre at 604-644-1418.
