This exhibit is based on the book Richmond Schools - What's in a Name? 125 Years of Change and Expansion, written by Jon Henderson and published by the City of Richmond Archives

Jon Henderson was an educator in the Richmond school system for 32 years. Recently retired, he is an active member of the Friends of the Richmond Archives. His book is the result of an ongoing publication partnership between the volunteers of the Friends of the Richmond Archives and the City of Richmond Archives.

Since 1994, the Friends of the Richmond Archives have written - and the Archives has published - books that use records held by the City of Richmond Archives to tell the history of Richmond, including books about horse racing, lacrosse, and various local neighbourhoods. These publications are available from the City of Richmond Archives.

The text used in this exhibit has been adapted from Jon Henderson's text, and the photographs taken by Graham Turnbull and Jon Henderson for the book have also been included in the exhibit.

All of the photographs used in this exhibit are part of the City of Richmond Archive's holdings.

Funding to create the exhibit was generously provided by the Friends of the Richmond Archives.
