Richmond residents have multiple opportunities to learn how to reduce reliance on single-use items and sort household recyclables properly to reduce contamination. Understand the recycling process and the importance recycling has on the environment, including the impact of marine plastic and other hot topics in solid waste management.

Planet Protector Academy: Home Edition

The City has partnered with DreamRider Productions Inc. to bring the Planet Protector Academy: Home Edition to Richmond. Engage your kids with online learning that inspires offline learning, creativity and action. The Zero Heroes Home Edition inspires kids to become zero waste superheroes that explore our garbage predicament and work to change their families waste habits.

Recycling and Waste Reduction Workshops

Free virtual recycling and waste management workshop with a minimum of 15 students per session.

Organizers are required to register at least 2 weeks in advance and registration is available a first come basis.

Does the thought of sorting your recycling make you sweat? No need! Join us for an interactive workshop to learn the basics of recycling and everything else you need to become a Gold Star Recycler in Richmond.

You’ll learn how to properly prepare your materials for each receptacle, avoid contamination and ultimately understand why it is important to recycle.

Did you know that your recycling items are treasures? They get transformed into awesome new things and save the environment when we recycle properly! Join us for an interactive workshop on a treasure hunt quest to learn the basics of recycling and make a fun treasure. You’ll learn how to properly prepare your materials for each receptacle, avoid contamination and ultimately understand why it is important to recycle and helps save our planet.
