The City of Richmond honours the men and women who gave their lives to serve and protect Canada, at its annual Remembrance Day ceremonies, Monday, November 11, 2019.
A parade of Canadian veterans, members of the Royal Canadian Legion and Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada will makes its way towards the cenotaph at Richmond City Hall at around 10:20 a.m.
Official ceremonies at the City Hall cenotaph will begin at 10:40 a.m. There will be two minutes of silence at 11 a.m., which will be followed by wreath-laying.
When the service ends, the public is invited to a Remembrance Day reception in the City Hall Galleria. This is a free event where people can warm up with a hot drink and something sweet, talk about the ceremony and connect with other community members.
The ceremonies will also be simulcast into City Hall Council Chambers. Everyone is welcome inside and space is limited. First seating preference will be given to those who may not be able to stand outside for the duration of the service.
