The images in this exhibition document the artist’s observation of the urban landscape experienced on a daily basis.Visibility is an on-going series of observational photographic images that reflect and contemplate on the meaning of the word “visibility” in the broadest sense.
These images document the observations of the fleeting moments in the time-compressed urban landscape.
These subtle moments might appear mundane but they are enticingly visible to the artist and represent the decompression of the fast pace socialization and industrialization of the urban culture. The compositional structure of these images revolves around light, shadow, silhouettes and geometric shapes - an aesthetic system that was developed to contextualize and interpret “visibility” both directly and metaphorically. For this exhibition, 11 images are presented from the series being worked on since 2016. The chosen images are mostly photographs taken in the greater Vancouver area in the hope of making relevant visible connections with the visitors of their own experiences in the city.
