Shower with Soap
Shower with Soap, Right Before You Swim
Heading to the pool? Take one minute for a soapy shower first. It’s the easiest way to keep the water fresh and comfortable for everyone.
Why It Matters
When we don't shower and use soap, sweat, lotions, deodorant and everyday grime wash straight into the pool. That buildup can:
- create strong “chlorine” smells (caused by chlorine reacting with contaminants)
- irritate eyes, skin and lungs
- make it harder—and more expensive—to maintain water quality
Do Your Part in 3 Quick Steps
- Rinse and Soap Up: Use warm water and soap on your whole body (yes, hair too if it has product in it).
- Rinse Again: Make sure the suds—and the dirt—go down the drain, not into the pool.
- Head Straight to the Deck: Shower immediately before you swim so you stay clean on the way in.
Extra Clean Tips
- Remove makeup, perfume/cologne and heavy lotions beforehand.
- Little swimmers should get a quick soap-and-rinse too.
- Been to the gym first or enjoyed a sauna session? A proper shower is necessary—sweat doesn’t belong in the pool.
