Environmental Enhancement and Food Security Grant

The City of Richmond is proud to offer the Environmental Enhancement and Food Security Grant to support non-profit groups and individuals across Metro Vancouver.

This grant empowers community members to take positive action to protect environment and/or improve food security. Eligible projects must be inclusive and focus on:

  • Enhancing, restoring or preserving Richmond's unique island natural environment; and/or
  • Improving food access, food security and/or urban agriculture through the promotion of local food producers and Farmers' Markets.

These types of initiatives include but are not limited to:

  • Invasive species pulls
  • Native tree and shrub planting
  • Watercourse enhancement
  • Shoreline and street clean-ups
  • Wildlife education
  • Creating or enhancing bird habitat
  • Creating or enhancing pollinator and beneficial insect habitat
  • Hosting or supporting Farmers Markets

Funding Available

Environmental Enhancement Initiatives
Individual: Up to $500
Non-profit Organization: Up to $2500

Food Security Initiatives
Non-profit Organizations: Up to $5000

The City encourages private businesses and individuals looking at larger projects to partner with non-profit organizations to identify and organize environmental and food security activities in their neighbourhoods.
