Dance

Dance encompasses a variety of expressive and rhythmic movement forms, typically set to music. These disciplines allow individuals to express themselves creatively while enhancing physical fitness, balance and coordination. Seasonal programs for children and adults in a range of disciplines and styles are available at a variety of levels from beginner to intermediate to advanced.

Digital Arts - Media Lab

Digital arts encompass a wide range of artistic expressions created using digital technology. This includes everything from digital painting and illustration to 3D modeling, animation and graphic design. Unlike traditional art forms that utilize physical mediums like paint or clay, digital arts rely on software and hardware tools such as graphic tablets, computers, 3D printers, laser cutters and digital cameras. The Media Lab offers seasonal programs for all ages on animation, illustration, video editing, photography, 3D printing and more.

Fibre and Textile Arts

Fibre and Textile Arts involve the creation and manipulation of fabrics and fibers through techniques like sewing, weaving, knitting, embroidery and quilting. These art forms allow artists to explore texture, color and pattern to create functional and decorative pieces, fostering creativity and craftsmanship.

Music

Music programs in piano, violin, e-drums, voice and guzheng focus on building a strong technical foundation and musicianship in a fun and supportive class environment. Students have the option to pursue examinations through the Royal Conservatory of Music and may also compete at music festivals and are invited to perform at The Mic Drop, the Cultural Centre’s monthly open mic night for children and youth.

Performing Arts

Performing Arts refers to forms of artistic expression in front of an audience. This can include live theatrical performances, such as plays and musicals, as well as acting on camera for film or television. Performers entertain audiences, tell stories and evoke emotional responses by acting, singing, and dancing.
Through acting, performing and storytelling, students discover their inner voice, build confidence and develop communication skills. These programs foster creativity, the ability to improvise and collaborate with others.

Visual Arts

Visual Arts involve the creation of a tangible, visible artwork. This includes a wide variety of disciplines and mediums, or the combination thereof. Artist instructors engage the imaginations of children and adults through visual mediums that include painting, drawing, ceramics, mixed-media sculpture, collage, printmaking and more.

Daycamps

During Spring Break and Summer, Daycamps are available in the Richmond Cultural Centre and Annex. Students can choose to take part in a full day Creativity Camp multi-arts experience or explore a specific discipline, such as acrobatics, musical theatre or comics, in a half day camp.
