Civic services

While City Hall is closed, many services are also accessible 24/7 through the City of Richmond’s website at www.richmond.ca. These online services include a variety of transactions, interactive tools and data searches. In addition, most information, forms, bulletins and flyers are also available on the website.

City operations such as parks, recreation, cultural centres and the Works Yard will continue during most of the holidays.

Things to do this winter break

The holidays are also an ideal time to visit arts, cultural and heritage venues or spend time outside at one of Richmond’s many parks. View Community Facility Holiday Hours.

For a list of activities in Richmond over the winter break, visit www.richmond.ca/winterbreak.

Program registration is still available in-person through City Community Facilities or through www.richmond.ca/register.

Richmond Recycling Depot

The Recycling Depot will be closed on December 25 and 26, 2022 and January 1, 2023.

Garbage and Recycling Collection

Due to expected snow accumulations and freezing rain, traffic advisories have been issued for Thursday – Saturday. As road travel is not recommended, there will be no Garbage and Recycling collection on Friday, December 23.

If your recycling was not able to be collected, please hold all materials until your next collection day for the week of December 27 – 30. Unlimited volumes of recycling will be collected at that time. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding given the recent severe weather events.

Residents are asked to please ensure snow build up on carts is removed and to clear a path to allow crews to wheel carts more safely to the collection truck.

Please note adverse weather events such as snow could further delay collection. Visit www.richmond.ca/recycle or download the Richmond Recycling app to check your collection day as well as any updates that may affect collection.

Emergencies

For emergencies such as broken water mains, sewer problems, downed trees on roads, traffic lights out or other problems of this nature, please call the City’s 24-hour Emergency Line at 604 270-8721.
