Pride Week returns to Richmond from Monday, July 27 to Sunday, August 2 with a colourful series of events, learning opportunities and community connection in support of Richmond’s Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual and gender diverse (2SLGBTQIA+) communities.
“Pride Week is both a celebration and a reminder that fostering inclusion requires ongoing care, courage and a strong sense of community,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “This year’s theme, Pride in Momentum, reflects the collective energy and commitment of people working together to build a more equitable, welcoming and vibrant Richmond for everyone.”
New for 2026, a Pride Kickoff event will take place at the Minoru Centre for Active Living outdoor plaza on Sunday, July 26 from 2:00 to 5:00pm. The event will feature drag impersonator Carrie Dawn, a Pride Fusion Dance, and information booths from organizations offering 2SLGBTQIA+ programs and services, including Vancouver Coastal Health and Foundry Richmond.
Other Pride Week highlights include the:
- Annual painting of the Richmond Cultural Centre Pride stairs accompanied by youth musical performances
- Author talk with Mischa Oak on his recent book Rainbow Wisdom
- Tie Dye in the Park workshop
- Outdoor Zumba party
- Pride Tea for adults aged 55+
- Film screening of Love is Strange, and more.
