Looking to make your home more comfortable and save on energy costs? Take part in the Climate-Friendly Homes Tour in Richmond on Saturday, April 26, from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
A home in Burkeville and another in Blundell will open their doors to show how they have successfully reduced energy consumption and carbon emissions. Visitors can learn directly from the homeowners about the steps to make a home more climate-friendly, ask questions about costs and improvements, and hear about their experiences living in an energy-efficient home.
Building and energy efficiency professionals will be on-site to answer questions about how to design or retrofit homes for improved comfort and reduced energy use. Visitors may drop in any time between 11:00am and 2:00pm, with each home tour taking approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
The goal of the tour is to start friendly, casual and informative conversations based on homeowners’ first-hand knowledge and experience with various sustainable features.
The City of Richmond is one of 10 BC communities participating in the Climate-Friendly Homes Tour, a province-wide initiative that provides the public an opportunity to visit homes with sustainable technologies, such as heat pumps, high-performance building envelopes, passive house design or other low carbon features. The tour is funded by BC Hydro and administered by the Community Energy Association.
