Richmond Garlic Fest returns on August 14

02 August 2022

Fans of the stinking rose will once again be able to enjoy all of the wonderful qualities of this pungent allium at the 12th annual Richmond Garlic Fest taking place on Sunday, August 14. This popular event – after an absence of three years – is happening from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sharing Farm in Terra Nova Rural Park.

Over one thousand pounds of garlic will be available for sale including the Sharing Farm Society’s own Red Russian, Music and Italian softneck varieties. Local food trucks will also be onsite at 2771 Westminster Highway, serving dishes laden with garlic and an ice cream featuring roasted garlic.

In addition to everything garlic, the festival will include live music, a farmers market, bird walks, native plant walks, and workshops focusing on garlic growing, practical farming equipment, and identifying native bees. The City of Richmond is once again partnering with the Sharing Farm Society to include a raptor demonstration and a number of birding activities.

Admission to the festival is by donation and is suitable for all ages. Parking is limited, however the event is located along the West Dyke and attendees are encouraged to walk, take transit or cycle. A free bike valet service will be available.

All proceeds from the festival go to supporting the Sharing Farm in its mission to support the Richmond Food Bank and to provide fresh, healthy, sustainably grown produce to community members facing food insecurity.
