The City of Richmond in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Legion, Richmond Branch 291 is inviting residents to nominate veterans for its inaugural Veterans Street Banner Program, which will honour individuals who have served Canada with courage and dedication.
This fall, up to 114 veterans will be recognized on individual street banners displayed throughout the city centre, offering the community a meaningful way to pay tribute to individuals who have served in uniform.
Nominations open on Thursday, April 9, and will be accepted until Sunday, May 24, 2026. Eligible veterans will be selected in the order nominations are received.
To be eligible, veterans must have served in the Canadian Armed Forces or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and have lived in Richmond.
The banners will be displayed in the City Centre area from October 1 to December 1, 2026.
Residents are encouraged to participate by submitting nominations and helping ensure the contributions of local veterans are recognized and remembered.
