Recreation and Parks Month

Explore. Play. Walk. Dance.

Recreation and Parks month

Thank you to everyone who took part in Recreation and Parks month. Check back here in June 2024 for next year's details!

How will you celebrate?

Throughout the month of June, follow @cityofrichmondbc on Facebook and Instagram for ways to move, explore and enjoy Richmond’s recreation and parks programs, spaces and places and improve your health and wellness while having fun. Whether you’re an avid outdoors person, or just kick-starting your active lifestyle, the City of Richmond has many fun activities, exciting events and energizing programs to support your goals.

Did you know…

  • Being active has many immediate and long-term benefits for your physical and mental wellbeing including improved sleep and brain and heart health?
  • It’s recommended that adults and seniors should be physically active each day, and get at least 150 minutes per week of physical activity that increases your heart rate? For children and youth, 60 minutes of heart-pumping physical activity daily is recommended.
  • Spending just 15 minutes in a forest (any forest!) significantly reduces stress hormones and heart rate variability? Time in nature reduces your risk of chronic diseases, such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke. Try Guided Nature Bathing today!
