Artist Statement

Juliana Loh is a former long-time resident of Richmond and was inspired by the foodie culture in the city. The work highlights cultural foods from around the world and ocean creatures big and small, including herons, spot prawns, salmon, and crabs. Butterflies fly, crawl, swim and ride their bikes invisibly across the courtyard where they settle at their final destination just outside a sushi restaurant.

The bigger box bathed in the color purple entices their foodie visitors with a mirage of international foods that have made Richmond a food mecca.
