Artist Statement

A love letter to Richmond’s wild neighbours—heron, salmon, sturgeon, seal, otter, owl, and eulachon. This quadriptych invites viewers to slow down and be mindful of the life that still calls the Fraser River home.

Richmond sits at the mouth of one of North America's greatest rivers, and the Fraser has sustained life here for thousands of years. "The March" is a reminder that this heritage is not only human. It belongs to every creature that calls this estuary home. In a city that continues to grow, this piece encourages observation and reflection whilst walking mindfully alongside the remarkable wildlife in Richmond.
