Nicholas Croft

Biography

Polymetis is a design studio established in 2014 by Michaela MacLeod and Nicholas Croft. Both formally trained as architects, they work at the intersection of architecture and art. Michaela is from Moncton, New Brunswick, and Nicholas is from Bellingham, Washington. They share a mutual interest in land and the environment, focusing on nautical geography, a primary source of inspiration from childhoods spent near the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
Each project is approached with an awareness of the influences that create our surrounding environment and how those forces may be constructed or controlled to reveal a familiar territory or space from an unusual perspective.
The studio's site-specific projects focus on making and experimental production, blending manual and digital skills that inspire new fields of exploration, which is core to the work ethos. The aim is to create works that are thoughtful, engaging and beautiful.
