Description of Work
The spawning metal salmon within the waterfall relates to Richmond's fishing heritage and strong ties to the Fraser River. The male salmon exhibit the 'kype' (or hooked nose) that develops when the fish enter fresh water to spawn.
Artist Statement
The waterfall feature at the Hollybridge pump station is an example of how art and the history of the island can be brought together. The fishing industry and the salmon, that were the cornerstone of Lulu Island's development, was the inspiration for the creation of the waterfall.
