Culture Days: Arts, Culture and Community

Culture Days is set to return this fall, happening September 19 through October 12, and Richmond’s artists and cultural organizations are invited to register interactive events to promote arts and culture in our community. By offering free or pay-what-you-may experiences such as hands-on workshops, creative placemaking activities, behind-the-scenes tours, open studio events, information sessions and demonstrations, event organizers are increasing awareness, pride and participation in the arts and activating public spaces through, and for, the arts.

Celebrated nationally and experienced locally, Culture Days highlights the talents of artists, cultural producers, dancers, designers, makers, musicians, performers, photographers, writers and others who open their creative spaces to the public or present free, participatory activities and experiences.

For artists and other creative individuals, Culture Days is a unique opportunity to share arts and culture practices and introduce residents and visitors to Richmond’s vibrant arts and culture community. For groups and organizations, Culture Days is a recognized platform to increase community engagement, reach new audiences and enhance member recruitment.

Through participation in the program, Richmond-based organizers will receive promotional support through a robust multi-tiered marketing campaign from the City of Richmond, BC Culture Days and the national Culture Days organization. Events and activities registered by Thursday, July 31 become eligible for promotion at all three levels.

Event registration is now open at culturedays.ca. The website offers free resources to plan events, inspiration for in-person and online activities, and resources for Indigenous cultural programs, volunteer management, documenting events and a school engagement toolkit.

Richmond is consistently recognized as being among Culture Days’ top 10 participating communities with a diverse offering of engaging activities to discover across the city and online. In 2024, our community ranked first in BC, third among Mid-size Cities and eighth overall nationally. 5 million people attended 4,000+ Culture Days events across Canada in 2024, the highest level of engagement in the organization's history.
