This event marks the fall migration of shorebirds, songbirds and waterfowl as they move from northern breeding grounds to warmer habitats in the south. Watch bird banders do their work, see live raptors and try activities like measuring your “wingspan”, exploring a bird’s buffet of aquatic insects, pulling invasive plants, painting a natural landscape, bird song trivia and more.
Drop-in any time. Please leave pets at home. Look for the Regional Parks tent at the washroom building.
Sign up for a guided bird walk before the event. Register for Birding for Beginners. Participants 10 years and up can learn bird ID tips, how to use binoculars and where to find common birds. Cost associated with the walk.
Parking is limited at Iona Beach Regional Park. For the event, take the FREE shuttle from Templeton SkyTrain Station. Shuttle service runs every 30 to 45 minutes, with the first bus departing from Templeton Station at 7:45am and the last bus departing Iona Beach Regional Park at 2:15pm.
