If you received an eviction notice or are unsure of your rights as a renter, contact the Residential Tenancy Branch.
The Residential Tenancy Branch can help you understand:
- The eviction process
- Your rights and responsibilities as a tenant
- How to resolve disputes with your landlord

You can also contact the Tenant Resource & Advisory Centre (TRAC). TRAC offers legal education, advocacy, and direct support for renters across BC.

Tenant Protections and Relocation Assistance due to Redevelopment
If your rental home is being redeveloped, renovated, or demolished, and you have received a notice to end your tenancy, you may qualify for relocation support. This may include early notice, money to help you move, and other help.

Rental Assistance Programs
If you're struggling to pay rent, you may qualify for help through one of the following programs:
- Shelter Aid for Elderly Renters (SAFER)
Provides monthly rent supplements to lower-income seniors aged 60 and older who rent in the private market.
- Rental Assistance Program (RAP)
Offers rent support to low-income working families with at least one child under the age of 19.
- BC Rent Bank operated by CHIMO Community Services
Provides short-term, low- or no-interest loans to eligible renters in financial crisis—for example, to prevent eviction or cover a damage deposit.
