Artist Statement
In contrast to the demands of habitation and construction logic of the buildings that surround it, tango proposes deceptively simple sculptural gestures. Standing among the towers lining Minoru Boulevard the pieces of tango are locked in an intimate dance against the imperative to standardize our built environment. Built from the base materials from which the surrounding buildings are built, concrete, steel and wood, their forms allude to an individuality that resists their industrialization in the construction industry.
