Join us for our annual Public Works Open House on Sat, May 10 from 11am to 3pm!

This event is an opportunity for the Engineering and Public Works Department to publicly acknowledge our operations staff who provide a variety of services, especially maintaining our infrastructure. Likewise, City staff are able to showcase the work that is done on a daily basis to ensure the safety and health of the community. This exciting event highlights the importance of public works in community life and celebrates the annual National Public Works Week in May, recognizing the people who provide and maintain the infrastructure services known as public works.

“Our event is committed to fostering positive environmental, social and economic impacts for current and future generations within the local community.”

At this fun-filled event, you can participate in activities and visit booths about Water Services, Flood Protection, Sanitary Sewers, Engineering, Roads and Construction Services, Environmental Programs, Parks, Recreation and Culture, Fleet Operations and Emergency Services. You will have the opportunity to meet the people who keep Richmond one of Canada’s safest and most livable communities. This family-friendly event will feature:

  1. All 12 areas of the Public Works Open House, guided by the Discovery Passport
  2. Educational and interactive displays
  3. Heavy equipment, including dump trucks, graders and backhoes
  4. The Lafarge Kidcrete active participation station
  5. Lunch and snacks available for purchase from food trucks
  6. Live music and entertainment
  7. Richmond Fire-Rescue and other community partners on-site
  8. The Kidstruction unstructured, child-friendly play area
