Celebrate BC Youth Week in Richmond from May 1 to 7

NR - 2024 - Youth Week

Richmond youth can celebrate BC Youth Week by participating in more than 17 free or low-cost activities offered locally from Wednesday, May 1 to Sunday, May 7.

Make a personally-designed phone case at Hamilton Community Centre, sign up individually or as a team for one of the three sports tournaments at local community centres, join other youth for a Friday night swim at Minoru Centre for Active Living or shop for free at the Youth Clothing Shop at Cambie Community Centre. Highlights of Youth Week in Richmond include:

U-ROC (Richmond Outstanding Community) Youth Awards: Wed, May 1
Celebrate the achievements and dedication of youth and caring adults within the Richmond community. Visit richmond.ca/youth for a list of this year’s award recipients. This event is by invitation only.

Do-It-Yourself Phone Cases: Thu, May 2, afternoon
Create one-of-a-kind phone cases with other preteens and youth at the Hamilton Community Centre. Registration required.

Sports Tournaments: Fri, May 3
3 Point Basketball Tournament at West Richmond Community Centre; 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament at South Arm Community Centre; and Volleyball Tournament at Thompson Community Centre. Registration required.

Media Arts Industry Night: Sat, May 4, 12:00-4:00pm
Curious about a career in media arts? Come to the Richmond Cultural Centre Annex Media Lab and hear from industry professionals what it's like to work in their respective fields and get a glimpse of what they do. Drop-in.

Card Game Hangout: Sun, May 5, 2:00-4:00pm
Play games and have fun with friends at City Centre Community Centre. Drop-in.

Youth Week BBQ Celebration: Mon, May 6, 4:00-6:00pm
Stop by West Richmond Community Centre for a free hot dog BBQ and participate in activities and games (carnival/lawn type games) run by Youth In Action members and Youth Development Leaders. Drop-in.

Friendship Photos: Tue, May 7, 4:00-6:00pm
Take a friendship photo in the Richmond Media Lab, at the Richmond Cultural Centre Annex, and take home a photo filled with memories with you or a group of friends! Drop-in.

BC Youth Week is an annual celebration held on the first week of May which aims to highlight the strong connections between youth and their communities. Youth Week events celebrate the tremendous energy and valuable contributions of youth to the well-being and development of the community while encouraging a greater understanding and acceptance of youth.
