What the City is Doing
Progress on Sustainability
In November 2014, the City released a Sustainability Progress Report that describes key initiatives and accomplishments that support greater sustainability in Richmond. The Report is available for download.
The report is organized around the different goals in the City’s Sustainability Framework:
- Climate & Energy Action
- Sustainable Resource Use & Waste Management
- Compact, Complete Communities
- Mobility & Access
- Green Built Environment
- Thriving Natural Environment
- Local Agriculture & Food Security
- Resilient Economy
- Inclusive, Accessible & Safe Community
- Vibrant Community
The Sustainability Progress Report explains how each of these goal areas contributes to Richmond’s sustainable development, highlighting actions the City has taken to achieve these goals. In doing so, the Sustainability Progress Report tells the story of how the City is working to achieve its 2041 Official Community Plan vision of a Sustainable Richmond:
"A healthy island city that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It is a place where people live, work, and prosper in a welcoming, connected, accessible and vibrant community."
