Repair Fair

Richmond Repair Fair
* Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, the Richmond Repair Fairs have been cancelled

In these evolving times, we ask that residents hold on to their items in need of repair and join us once we are able to reschedule our 2020 Repair Fairs. Thank you for your continued interest in repair and reuse.

Get household items fixed for free by volunteers from Repair Matters, and learn more about how to recycle and reduce waste at the Richmond Repair Fair.

We can repair a range of items at our Fix It Station, including:
  • Small kitchen appliances (toasters, kettles, blenders, microwaves)
  • Household items (sewing machines, lamps, space heaters)
  • Toys
  • Hand tools
  • Clothing
  • Bikes

Please note: we cannot fix large appliances, phones, TVs or computers.

One item per resident will be accepted, and residents are encouraged to submit the item they plan to bring for repairs by commenting on the City’s Repair Fair Facebook Event page so that the required tools and fixers are available. Residents should expect to stay at the event while their item is in for repair.

PLUS: There's more than repairs at the fair

Kids Activity Centre
Your kids will have lots of fun while your household item is being repaired. There will be lots of activities to help them learn about how to recycle and why it’s important.

Fix-It Demo -- Learn from an expert!
Get tips from an expert repair person at the Fix It Demo. Each Repair Fair will feature a seasonal item being repaired by an expert, who will provide advice and training on how you can complete the same repairs at home.

Become a Recycling Expert
Recycling quality counts and that means we need to recycle consistently and correctly. Learn tips for how to sort recycling into the correct bin and where to recycle items that are not accepted in residential collection programs. Get tips on:
  • How we can reduce reliance on single-use plastics and other items
  • How to recycle food scraps, grease and oil

Take the Recycling Challenge Game
Light bulbs, aerosol cans, electronics and more - do you know how to recycle these special items? Test your knowledge on our fun sort-it-out challenge! You might learn a few new things in this mix and match game.
