Pay Parking

A mix of short and long-term metered parking, along with some permit parking on City streets and in parking lots is available in Richmond. Please see Pay Parking & Ticketing for more information.

City Offers Pay-by-Phone Parking
The City of Richmond offers pay-by-phone parking at all of its on-street parking meters. The benefits include:
  • Save money by only paying the exact time you park
  • Pay for parking in the comfort/safety of your vehicle
  • Receive consolidated parking expense reports online
To use the service, drivers register online then simply phone 604-677-0215 when parking, and provide the automated system with the parking meter number and the desired number of parking minutes. Drivers also have the option of receiving a parking expiry reminder via text message.

A convenience fee of 25 cents applies per transaction.

Complimentary Parking Year-Round for Richmond's Veterans

Richmond residents who possess valid ICBC Veteran issued licence plates, are able to park for free, every day of the year, at on-street parking meters and city owned off-street operations at Gateway Theatre, Bowling Green and Brighouse Park.  To receive complimentary parking, Veterans must complete and submit, the no-fee application below or email veteranparking@richmond.ca to request an application via mail.  A photocopy of your ICBC registration paper must accompany the application.

Two Ways to Apply for a Complimentary Parking Permit

Your complimentary parking automatically renews each year if you continue to meet the programs’ eligibility requirements.

How to Obtain Veteran Licence Plates
An application form can be obtained from ICBC  (Veteran plates) or any Autoplan broker. For more information, on the Veteran plates, contact ICBC or any Autoplan broker.

Please note: Veterans must adhere to parking limits (normally 2 hours on-street even though parking is free of charge) and all other traffic regulations within the Traffic Bylaw No. 5870 and/or the Parking Off-Street Bylaw No. 7403.
