Completed Planning Projects

Single Family Building Massing Phase 2

The City of Richmond implemented changes to the City’s Zoning Bylaw requirements for single family dwellings in 2015. City Council directed staff to undertake further research and report back with additional proposed amendments to the Richmond Zoning Bylaw 8500.

The City hosted a number of open houses from January 18, 2017 to February 23, 2017 to give residents an opportunity to review a number of options to improve the zoning bylaw for single family houses and to provide comments.

Members of the community were invited to attend and review issues and possible bylaw changes, speak to city staff and provide their comments. Feedback received at the open houses has been included in a report for Council.

Based on the feedback and staff analysis, a report was presented to Planning Committee on June 20, 2017 and to Council on June 26, 2017 and then to Public Hearing July 17, 2017 followed by final adoption at the July 24, 2017 Council Meeting.

Staff will report back in 2018 with a 12-month review of the bylaw changes and implementation.
