June 4-9, 2018 – Explore and Connect
National Seniors Week commends and recognizes the contributions seniors bring to their community. This year’s theme of “Explore and Connect” encourages Richmond seniors to engage and celebrate with community members while participating in new activities that promote healthy and active aging.
During Seniors Week, many free and low-cost activities, along with some transportation options, are available at community facilities City-wide. The goals and objectives of Seniors Week are:
· to recognize and honour seniors in Richmond
· to highlight the positive contributions that seniors are making in our community
· to promote an understanding of and encourage positive attitudes towards seniors
· o promote healthy and active aging

Try Qi Gong
Maintain health, increase vitality and experience inner peace and healing with this ancient form of Chinese medicine. This class includes gentle physical movements, breathing techniques and meditation led by a certified Qi Gong instructor. Registration required.

Seniors Week Nature Walk
Wander through 2 kilometers of picturesque nature trails (rain or shine) followed by a tour of the Nature House. Refreshments provided. Comfortable shoes recommended. Registration required.

Square Dance: Friendship to Music
Join this fun and interactive class offering step-by-step and do-si-do instructions. All skill levels are welcome! Socialize and enjoy light refreshments following the activity. Instructed in both English and Mandarin. Registration required.

Over 90s Tea and Celebration
Celebrate Richmond seniors 90 years and over with an afternoon of socializing and recognition as these special Richmond citizens are honoured. Caregivers welcome. Registration required. A free membership to the Minoru Seniors Society is available to all participants over 90 years.
Minoru Place Activity Centre

Transportation is available, where indicated, for some events to and from Cambie, City Centre, Hamilton, Minoru Place Activity Centre, South Arm, Steveston, Thompson and West Richmond community centres. Transportation cost is $3 per event.
