Updated Fitness Centre
The Fitness Cemtre has a bright, new look after a renovation that included new paint, furnishings, improved lighting and electrical.
The 4,000 square foot Fitness Centre and the upstairs mezzanine fitness area is open daily during facility hours and includes TRX suspension training equipment, free weights, recumbent bikes and mats for stretching. Some of the Spring classes to register for or drop in to include Group Weight Training (for women, youth and seniors); Kick Boxing: Drills and Skills (for youth and adults); Yoga classes for all skill levels and ages; Gentle Yoga for seniors; and Dance Fit for all ages.
Thompson Community Centre offers a number of options for accessing fitness programs including paying a drop-in fee or purchasing a Visit Card or Fitness Centre pass, as well as offering programs for registration. See the Fitness Fees section for more information.
Fitness Centre Orientation
Book an orientation to the Fitness Centre with a BCRPA registered Weight Trainer and learn proper techniques for equipment use and Fitness Centre etiquette. Call 604-238-8434 to book an appointment.
Youth 13-15 years old must complete a youth orientation, demonstrate appropriate maturity level and have a parental consent form signed prior to Fitness Centre access. Youth orientations can be booked by calling the centre of choice and need only be completed once for eligibility to exercise at all centres. Youth 16 and 17 years old are optional for youth orientations, but must have a Parental Consent Form signed.
PAR-Q+ (The Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire for Everyone)
When you take part in any fitness activity at a City facility you will be asked to: complete a PAR-Q+; read the large poster version of the form or confirm you have completed the online version of the questionnaire; or complete and print the form here PAR-Q Form 2018. This form is designed to identify people for whom a change in physical activity may pose a risk.
All Thompson personal trainers have met or have exceeded the standards set out by the BCRPA, the provincial registration and governing association for fitness leaders in BC. Malina Rehm - Yoga
Movement is Medicine. That is Malina's personal philosophy. After healing from personal trauma through yoga, Malina discovered that movement is key for healing. Malina found great healing in her teacher training.
