Artist in Residence - Pierre Leichner
Meld sports with interdisciplinary arts through Pierre’s unique SpART project at Thompson. Let Pierre guide your creativity with his community-engaged practice while you express yourself through projects such as “Bocce art” and Tye Dye SpART t-shirts. Pierre has participated in making art works with diverse community participants of all ages in Canada and in Europe. His past community-engaged projects can be seen on his website: www.leichner.ca.

Your Sporting Memories Video
Share your favorite sporting memories with Pierre at Thompson. Whether you've coached, played, or been a fan, you are sure to have stories to share! Pierre will build a video from these memories to be shown in the lounge at Thompson and on Pierre’s blog. You can submit your written memories or set up an interview time by emailing email@example.com.
Pierre is focusing this fall season on transforming sport objects into art workshops with seniors. In October, our monthly art installation will display all our SpART projects thus far.
Erin Green: Meet our new art instructor, who will be teaching a variety of classes for all ages starting in the fall. Erin has a diploma in Fine Arts, a Bachelor of Design and has been teaching art through community centres, Arts Umbrella and privately for almost ten years. Erin loves making art...she is passionate about sharing tricks and techniques that allow people to feel confident in their abilities. She loves to share the joy that comes with creating art!
She lives with her husband and their dog Sam. She loves playing board games and having dance parties!

Canada 150 - Red Curtain Arts Series
Enjoy a myriad of FREE performances, workshops and events during the Red Curtain Art Series. This series brings local performers to the Centre to help celebrate Canada’s 150, and the arts. Stay tuned for an upcoming schedule of performances and dates!
Thompson Community Association Art Committee
Since 2009 Thompson Community Association’s Art Committee has spearheaded projects such as:
- River Walk community art installation
- Monthly art display in the lobby
- Art pieces adorning the walls of the fitness centre
