Preschools and Out of School Care

Preschools
Community centre preschool programs are designed to develop the whole child intellectually, socially, physically, emotionally and cognitively. A positive and encouraging learning environment is provided where children of various cultures and backgrounds share and learn about each other.
In-person preschool registration is required at the facility requested. The following documents for each child is required when registering:
- Birth Certificate
- BC Care Card
- Immunization record
- Photo (required by some centres)
Fees are payable by cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or cheque and are due at the time of registration. An additional registration fee may be applied. Monthly post-dated payments for the remainder of the school year are accepted.
The preschool term is September through June with a winter and spring break that coincides with the school breaks. Licensed preschools have qualified Early Childhood Education preschool instructors. All licensed preschools require that children (3-5 years) must turn the appropriate age by December 31, 2022.

Out of School Care (OSC)
Out of School Care programs are staffed by energetic and creative instructors who support children in a fun and nurturing environment. All programs adhere to government regulations and work closely with Richmond Health Services.
OSC programs are available at Cambie, Hamilton, South Arm and West Richmond community centres. The Community Associations delivering programs in these facilities hire coordinators to deliver quality licensed school age care for children aged 5 to 12 years.
