About the Street Banner Program
The City of Richmond’s street banner program is a civic beautification initiative that strives to engage community members to submit creative and visually appealing designs taken from around Richmond. Banner designs are selected through an annual contest that is open to all members of the community. Entries received in the banner contest celebrate the places, activities, and experiences that make Richmond so beautiful and unique.
2017-2018 Street Banner Contest
The City of Richmond's annual Street Banner Contest is now open. Entries will be accepted till Friday, September 29, 2017. Please review the contest rules, guidelines and technical specifications before submitting a design. Entries can be submitted through the Street Banner Contest website.
The following visual art categories will be accepted:
- Digital Art
- Painting and Illustration

Past Banner Designs
Looking to own a copy of your favorite previously displayed street banner design? Past year’s banners and recycled banner bags are available for sale from the City's Parks Department. They can be purchased Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., from the Parks main reception located at the City of Richmond’s Operations Yard, 5599 Lynas Lane. Please note the 2016 Street Banner Collection will be available for sale beginning April 1, 2017.
