Richmond residents encouraged to volunteer for over 90 Advisory Committee positions

19 August 2020

There are many opportunities for Richmond residents to participate in local government and have a meaningful impact. The City is now accepting applications to fill more than 90 positions on several of the City’s various Council appointed Advisory Committees.

“The Advisory Committees are an important aspect of local government. The expertise and insights shared from the members on these committees directly help establish strategy and decisions that impact current and future residents,” says Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “With over 20 committees, there is sure to be one that falls in the area of our many residents’ interest – from intercultural harmony, childcare, seniors, the environment, arts, agriculture and the economy.”

The Council appointed roles begin in 2021 and are voluntary with no remuneration. Committee sizes vary, as do the length of terms.

Those interested are asked to submit their completed application form and resume by 5 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2020.

Application forms, as well as information on the various committees, their mandates and terms of reference, are available online at www.richmond.ca/cityhall/council/boards/advisory. If you do not have access to email or the online link, please contact the City Clerks Office at 604-276-4007.
