Richmond extends Flat Rate Utility Bill due date to June 30, 2020
30 March 2020
Residents encouraged to utilize mail or online payment methods
The City of Richmond is extending the due date for 2020 Flat Rate Utility Bills by three months from Tuesday, March 31 to Tuesday, June 30, 2020. The decision was made in response to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) situation.
All payments made on or before the extended deadline of Tuesday, June 30 will still be eligible for the 10 per cent early payment discount. City Hall is currently closed to the public, but staff are still working to serve Richmond residents.
Payments should be made remotely using one of the following options:- Online or telephone banking through a financial institution
- Online through the City’s website using a credit card (service fees apply)
- Mailing a cheque to City of Richmond Tax Department (6911 No. 3 Road, Richmond, BC V6Y 2C1)
- Dropping a cheque in the 24 Hour Drop Box at Richmond City Hall, west entrance

In addition, Council also supported the elimination of cash transactions at City Hall until after September 30, 2020. This will reduce the patron's risk of theft as they will not be carrying large sums of cash and improve physical distancing as fewer patrons will need to access their financial institution before visiting the building when it is reopened.
The health and wellness of everyone in Richmond remains a top priority. The City maintains regular contact with Medical Health Officers from Vancouver Coastal Health and BC Centre for Disease Control, the leading agencies for local public health, and continues to follow the agencies’ direction and recommendations.
