Grab some free pancakes, experience the wonders of magic or push yourself in a Zumba class. These are just some of the amazing free or low-cost options available across the City of Richmond over the BC Family Day weekend from February 15 to 17.
There are over 65 free or low-cost events and activities happening throughout Richmond over the Family Day hosted by the City and community partners. There is something for almost everyone regardless of age or activity level, with the aim being to bring families together for fun, activity and enjoyment. Among the highlights are:
Saturday, February 15
- Family Day Fun, a Pilates Fusion session and free access to the fitness centre at West Richmond Community Centre
- Drop-in Family Storytime at the Richmond Public Library
Saturday, February 15-Monday, February 17
- Public swimming and skating sessions (City-wide)
- Themed activities at the Richmond Nature Park
- Our Changing Waterfront Scavenger Hunt at Britannia Shipyards
Monday, February 17
- Children’s Art Festival at the Richmond Art Gallery and Richmond Arts Centre
- Intergenerational dumpling making sessions at City Centre Community Centre
- Family Day breakfast and activities at Steveston Community Centre and Cambie Community Centre
- Magician Show, face painting and balloon twisting at South Arm Community Centre
- Drop-in Zumba, Martial Arts and Family Open Gym, Wacky Science and Healthy Snacks sessions and more at Hamilton Community Centre
- Family Zumba Blast and Family Yoga sessions at Minoru Centre for Active Living
