City of Richmond launches support centre for businesses affected by COVID-19
20 April 2020
In order to provide a centralized source of accurate and timely information for local businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Richmond has launched a virtual COVID-19 Business Support Centre.
“Many Richmond businesses are experiencing significant challenges as a result of the necessary measures to halt the spread of COVID-19,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “The economic impacts in almost every sector are devastating. While some businesses have been able to adapt through online platforms or modified products and services, others have had to temporarily close.”
“Providing a central location for readily available support and direction to those business operators trying to navigate these difficult times is a priority.”
The Business Support Centre will provide information related to City services and initiatives, as well as other existing and in-development support programs and resources from all levels of government and other agencies.
The City of Richmond COVID-19 Business Support Centre is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be reached as follows:
- Phone: 604-276-4114
- Email: businesshelp@richmond.ca
- Visit: www.businessinrichmond.ca/covid-19
The City of Richmond’s Economic Development office has been actively working on other initiatives to provide support to local businesses and Richmond residents. Some of these initiatives include:
- Connecting displaced workers with in-demand jobs
- Helping Richmond businesses respond to government procurement opportunities
- Expanding the Richmond Food Recovery Network to match more surplus food with social agencies
- Launching a ‘Support Local Business’ campaign in collaboration with Tourism Richmond and other partners.
More information on these and other initiatives are available at www.businessinrichmond.ca/covid-19.
