City of Richmond closes additional outdoor amenities to help flatten the COVID-19 curve

The City of Richmond is closing outdoor amenities effective immediately. The closures are important to lesson the magnitude of impact from COVID-19 and support the protection of our citizens.
- Sports fields
- Tennis courts
- Basketball courts
- Volleyball courts
- Skate parks
- Bike parks
- Lacrosse boxes
- West Richmond outdoor fitness area
- March 20:
- Closed playgrounds on City and School District property.
- Offered options for delegations who wish to ask questions at Council Meetings, to submit questions in advance and view the meeting via live streaming versus attending.
- March 19:
- Richmond declared an emergency.
- Spring break programs and child care programs in community centres were discontinued.
- Announced City Hall buildings will be closed to the public as of Monday, March 23.
- The City will continue to offer services and can be reached by telephone and email.
- March 16:
- Richmond closed all community facilities including community centres; libraries; swimming pools; arenas; arts, cultural and heritage buildings; the Richmond Olympic Oval and Minoru Centre for Active Living.
Residents are urged to abide by the Orders and the direction of the public health authorities and do their part in following risk reduction measures.
The City remains in regular contact with Medical Health Officers from Vancouver Coastal Health and the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, the leading agencies for local public health, and continues to follow the direction and Orders of these agencies.
