Richmond’s Halloween event details now online in one location

Have some spooktacular fun by attending any of the 20+ Halloween-inspired events and programs happening in Richmond now through October 31. To make planning even easier, all event details can now be found in one place – www.richmond.ca/halloween.
“The City and its community partners have always offered a fantastic range of family-friendly Halloween activities that continue to provide a great sense of community and this year is no exception,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie.
There are a wide variety of events to choose from, including costume encouraged skates at Minoru Arenas, South Arm Community Centre’s Darkness Haunted House, the Halloween Climb at the Richmond Olympic Oval and trick or treating at Britannia Shipyards Boardwalk.
On Halloween night, there are four free community firework displays to choose from:
|1.||Halloween Fireworks Festival, Minoru Park, 6:30-8:45 p.m. Music, dance demonstrations, entertainers, children’s activities, inflatable corn maze, trick-or-treating, fire juggling and a spectacular fireworks finale at 8:30 p.m.|
|2.||Hugh Boyd Park (West Richmond), 8:15 p.m.|
|3.||McLean Park (Hamilton), 8:00 p.m.|
|4||South Arm Park, 8:30 p.m.|
Fireworks and fire crackers can be very dangerous and it is illegal to possess, buy or sell them in Richmond. Under Richmond’s Fire Protection and Life Safety Bylaw 8306, offences and fines include purchasing fireworks ($1,000 fine), displaying fireworks for sale ($1,000 fine), selling or distributing fireworks ($1,000 fine) or possession of fireworks without a permit ($200 fine). A zero tolerance approach will be taken.
