Richmond Launches New Business Development Initiative05 March 2013
City of Richmond to retain, grow and attract businesses through proactive business development program and website.
The City of Richmond has launched a comprehensive new business development initiative designed to effectively and proactively engage, service and support existing Richmond businesses, attract new ones and develop industry partnership prospects. The program exemplifies Richmond’s commitment to a strong local economy and a healthy business base. It will enable Richmond businesses to seamlessly access City Hall information and services, specifically developed to meet the needs of business clients and prospects.
“Economic development, in the form of retention, expansion and attraction of businesses and jobs, is a key component towards building a balanced community and achieving local stability amidst global conditions of market turbulence and volatility,” says Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “The City of Richmond’s new business development program will facilitate the growth of our companies and industries, increase the exposure of Richmond as a global business destination, and guide an enhanced policy and regulatory process in support of our businesses.
The new business development program involves a set of integrated initiatives and tools for engaging businesses and partners. A proactive and ongoing annual business outreach campaign aims to reach and support between 100 and 150 businesses in Richmond’s strategic sectors per year. A powerful business account management and reporting tool provides the analytical framework for enhancing City processes related to serving the business customer and for policy development towards a healthy Richmond business climate and a sustainable local economy.
A first for Richmond economic development, this website features comprehensive information on Richmond’s business advantages, strategic sectors and quality of life. Access to economic development and business liaison services for businesses that are based in or are looking to locate to Richmond is also available through the website. A central broadcast point for local economic development content and social media channels, as well as access to the latest local business indicators and commercial facility search, are unique interactive features available to businesses through the new online portal.
Businesses, partner organizations and other interested stakeholders can access the new economic development website at www.businessinrichmond.ca or contact the City’s economic development team at email@example.com for additional information on the City’s turnkey business development program.
