Richmond World Festival adds Jocelyn Alice and Neon Dreams to festival lineup
06 August 2019
Celebrating five years of music, food and culture, the Richmond World Festival has added even more noteworthy Canadian acts to their stage. This year’s YVR Mosaic Main Stage will welcome omnipresent radio sensation, Jocelyn Alice, and acclaimed Halifax duo Neon Dreams. Coupled with an earlier announcement of performances by chart-toppers The Strumbellas and Bedouin Soundclash, Richmond World Festival is shaping up to be the must-see festival of the summer. Don’t worry about saving your ice cream money, admission is free.
Jocelyn Alice rose to fame with her 2015 breakout summer song, “Jackpot.” The track topped radio and sales charts eventually being certified Platinum in Canada. Since then, Jocelyn’s songs have received over 100 million streams, including the singles, “Still Wondering,” “I Know” and “Bound to You.”
Since 2014, Neon Dreams’ Kadillac and Adrian Morris have followed the blueprint of a well-told story, a beautiful melody and some emotional chords to enjoy cumulative success, including a win for Best New Group or Solo Artist at the 2017 Canadian Radio Music Awards, a performance at the Juno Awards, their own Warner Music-backed record label Dreaming Out Loud, and even a spot on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s summer Spotify playlist.
The reach of talent extends far beyond the borders of Canada. Attendees at this year’s Richmond World Festival will also enjoy exclusive imports with Veronica Fusaro (Switzerland), Quinta Kalavera (Mexico) and RT Nuba (Egypt). These artists, in addition to the performances by local community groups, cultural groups and dance troupes on multiple stages or popping up throughout the event site, will take visitors on a trip around the globe without ever having to leave Minoru Park.
All the more reason to leave the camping gear at home but still enjoy the atmosphere and accessibility of a two-day festival in the heart of the Richmond, Minoru Park is located a couple of blocks from the Brighouse Canada Line SkyTrain Station.
The Richmond World Festival will take place from 4 to 10 p.m. on Friday, August 30 and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 31. In addition to over 100 performances on eight stages, attendees will be able to experience a wide selection of food from over 60 food trucks at the FEASTival of Flavours. There will also be hands-on activities, an artisan market, cultural pavilions, a Kids World and much more.
The festival is produced by the City of Richmond and presented by Coast Capital Savings. Stage and zone sponsors are Vancouver International Airport (YVR), Tourism Richmond, Cowell Auto Group, CF Richmond Centre, Vanprop Investments Ltd. and McElhanney.
