Stories and Strings fill the air in Richmond's City Centre on Family Day

Noisy fun is encouraged at an upcoming concert at Richmond’s City Centre Community Centre on Family Day, Monday, February 18 from 10 to 11 a.m. The Classical Kids Stories and Strings concert, led by the musical duo of Mark Beaty and Alana Lopez of The Vancouver Island Symphony, will include stories with live music, instrument demonstrations, duets of classical music, fiddling, puppeteering, sing-a-long songs and lots of clapping.
This unique musical experience is aimed at children up to six years old and their families. Interaction with the musicians and singing and dancing is highly encouraged.
Advance tickets are $8.00 for those six years old and younger and $5.00 for caregivers 14+ years old. Tickets purchased on event day are $2.00 more. Seating is limited. To purchase tickets, call 604-276-4300 (barcode #2719568) or visit City Centre Community Centre at 5900 Minoru Boulevard.
Both Mark Beaty and Alana Lopez play with the Vancouver Island Symphony and Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and are musical educators. Beaty is a long time bassist who has played on numerous JUNO-nominated albums and was also the Musical Director of Bard on the Beach’s production of The Tempest. Lopez is a violinist and performer with the chamber music trio, Somerset.
