Nominations open for 11th annual Richmond Arts Awards
07 February 2019
Do you know a cultural leader or supporter who deserves recognition for their contribution to the arts in Richmond? The City of Richmond and Richmond Arts Coalition is now accepting nominations for the 11th annual Richmond Arts Awards. Nominations can be submitted online until Friday, March 15 at www.richmond.ca/artsawards.
The Richmond Arts Awards program recognizes the achievements in and contributions to the arts by Richmond residents, artists, educators, organizers and business leaders. To date, the program has attracted more than 200 nominations across six categories, recognizing both well-established institutions and rising stars in Richmond’s arts community.
This year, for the first time ever, the Richmond Arts Coalition will award a $200 cash prize to the winner of the Youth Arts category, which recognizes a performing, literary or visual artist, 24 years of age or younger, who has demonstrated outstanding promise and commitment to the Richmond arts community.
Nominations are being sought in the following categories:
- Arts Education
- Artistic Innovation
- Business and the Arts
- Cultural Leadership
- Youth Arts
All artistic disciplines are eligible: visual, performing, literary and culinary arts, as well as craft, environmental arts and new media.
Three finalists in each of the six categories will be named in April and award winners will be announced in a special ceremony hosted by Mayor Malcolm Brodie at Richmond City Hall this May.
The Richmond Arts Awards is presented through a partnership between the City of Richmond and the Richmond Arts Coalition, and is supported by the Richmond News.
