08 February 2019

With transportation of people and goods responsible for almost 70% of its employment, Richmond is a City on the Move. Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie will discuss how City Council is working to enhance local transportation in his Annual Address on Thursday, February 28.

“Keeping our local economy moving is critically important,” says Mayor Brodie. “To address transportation concerns and support the new growth, Council has placed a big focus on the mobility of people and goods throughout Richmond.”

With Council beginning a new four-year term, the Mayor will discuss a variety of other current topics, including a major investment in new police and fire personnel, the opening of the new Minoru Centre for Active Living, initiatives to address homelessness and the continued development activity within Richmond City Centre. Once again, the Mayor’s Annual Address will be delivered at a special luncheon hosted by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce.

“The movement of people and goods are absolutely vital to the sustainability and prosperity of the Richmond economy. As Richmond’s leading business association, our members are certainly eager to hear the Mayor’s vision at this special annual event, which is one of our biggest luncheon in the Chamber calendar,” said Barbara Tinson, Chair of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce.”

The Mayor will be joined by other City councillors in hosting luncheon attendees. Following his address, the Mayor will participate in a brief fireside chat with Clint Undseth, Vice President of Innovation Stuart Olson Inc. to answer questions from the audience.

The Mayor’s Annual Address will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Executive Hotel, Vancouver Airport, 7311 Westminster Highway. Tickets are available at www.richmondchamber.ca or by calling 604-278-2822.
