My previous occupation as McGill University academic and administrator taught me we need action based on facts and principles, rather than inaction based on politics. Over the last ten years, I have presented researched analyses before Council and Provincial Leaders on creating housing affordability, stopping farmland mansion speculation, ending the Onni rezoning fiasco, and making neighbourhoods safer.
As Richmond Museum Treasurer and founder of Plug-in Richmond, I focused on promoting thoughtful development of our community. Running for Council was prompted by the need to bring more urgency, rationality and effectiveness in addressing crucial issues; views shared by hundreds of people who asked me to run, having read my Letters to the Editor or heard me speak at Council.
Let’s stand up for Richmond by ensuring developers build for our needs not just profit, farmland is protected, residents are safe, and children have a future here. We can make Richmond better!
