City of Richmond 2022 Inaugural Tree Sale
City residents are invited to purchase a tree through the MyRichmond online portal from Tuesday, October 25 through Friday, November 18, 2022.

  • Sales will be limited to one tree per Richmond household at a cost of $10.
  • Proof of residency will be required upon pick up.
  • The pick-up date is Saturday, November 19, 2022.

    The trees, which are nursery-grown quality stock, will be sold in 5-gallon pots and will range in size from 3 to 6 feet tall. These are the trees the City is offering for sale:
  • Eastern red bud (Cercis canadensis) – native to North America
  • Japanese tree lilac (Syringa reticulata 'Ivory Silk') – non-native
  • Nootka cypress (Chamaecyparis nootkatensis) – native
  • Paperbark maple (Acer griseum) – non-native
  • Vine maple (Acer circinatum) – native

When selecting a tree from the registration page, you will be directed to select a two-hour time slot to pick up your tree at the City of Richmond Works Yard. In order to administer tree sales safely and effectively, choose from one of three time slots for pick-up. Note: Availability of time slots is based on a first come, first served basis.

How to Purchase a Tree
Residents interested in purchasing a tree will need a MyRichmond account. If you do not have a MyRichmond account, register before purchase. Call the Registration Call Centre (Mon-Fri, 8:30am-5:00pm) at 604-276-4300 for more information or assistance registering for a MyRichmond account.

Picking Up Your Tree
Your tree will be available for pick up at the Richmond Works Yard (5599 Lynas Lane) on Saturday, November 19, 2022. In order to receive a tree, you must provide a copy of your registration confirmation or receipt (digital or printed copy) as well as a piece of identification with the same name and address you registered under. 

Ensure that your vehicle is prepared to transport your tree. The trees range in size from 3 feet and 6 feet tall and are in 5-gallon pots. In order to prevent soil from spilling in your vehicle, it is recommended that you bring a towel or tarp to contain the tree.

Note: You will only be able to pick-up your tree during your registered time. Residents who do not come during their registration time will not receive a tree.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: If I can’t come during my registered time, can someone pick-up my tree?

A: Yes, as long as they provide a copy of your registration confirmation or receipt (digital or printed copy) as well as a piece of identification with your name and address.

Q: If I have multiple family members registered under MyRichmond account can I purchase a tree for each person?
A: No, trees are limited to one per address. 

Q: Can I hold a tree for pick-up at a later date.
A: No, trees are only available for pick-up during your registered time.

Q: I would like to purchase a tree, but I don’t have the ability to access the program online. Is there another way I can purchase a tree?
A: Yes, you can call a program administrator at 604-204-8902, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm and they will help you register for a tree.

Residents who have a MyRichmond Account can visit the Tree Registration page to purchase a tree. If you have questions about purchasing a tree please contact a program administrator between 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday at 604-204-8902
