Thank you to everyone who took part in many of the 2017 Pride Week activities. Please check back June 2018 for a new list of Pride Week events.
Pride Week, generally celebrated in the Metro Vancouver area during the first week of August, is an important time in our cultural and community life when the City of Richmond and its community partners come together to celebrate our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Two Spirit* (LGBTQ2S) communities.
This week is being celebrated under the framework of the Social Development Strategy Action 22:
- 22.1 Developing services and strategies that recognize the needs, interests and safety concerns of Richmond’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender LGBT communities. Short Term 0-3 years.
- 22.2 Collaborating on developing cross-agency staff awareness training programs on LGBT issues. Medium Term (4-6 years)
For more information about Pride Week or the City of Richmond’s work with LGBTQ2S communities, contact Donna Lee, Inclusion Coordinator at Donna.Lee2@richmond.ca or 604-276-4391.
* Two Spirit (also two-spirit or twospirit) is a modern umbrella term used by some indigenous North Americans to describe gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or queer individuals in their communities.
