Description of Work:
"Sequence" is a series of three powder-coated aluminum screens, each running vertically down the entire length of a different building facade of the Harmony tower. A tessellating pattern based on fish scales is water-jet cut into the screens, and the colour-coating is shimmering champagne. The repetitive patterning and lustrous surface conveys a sense of rhythm, movement and flexibility, much like a moving fish in water.
Eliza Au is a ceramic artist who primarily works with slip-casting and plaster mold-making. Her practice is mainly based in ceramics but she has also worked in the mediums of metal and glass. The focus of her work is tessellating patterns in the structure of a grid or mandala referring to ideas of sacred space.
